Safiq buka dimensi baru
Barisan muda Rajagobal kejut skuad Olimpik Korea Selatan
SKUAD bola sepak negara pimpinan K Rajagobal menyalakan impian baru, semalam selepas gah membuat kejutan menewaskan barisan Olimpik Korea Selatan 1-0 dalam siri persahabatan antarabangsa di Stadium Nasional, Bukit Jalil.
Wira pasukan adalah Safiq Rahim yang meledak masuk gol kemenangan pada awal babak kedua di hadapan kira-kira 3,000 penyokong kecil tempatan untuk memberi tonik tambahan dalam menggapai cita-cita besar mereka menjelang Sukan Asia di Guangzhou, November ini.
Kali terakhir, Korea Selatan bertandang ke Kuala Lumpur juga berakhir dengan kekalahan buat skuad Olimpik mereka. Barisan yang dipimpin Anatoly Byshovets ketika itu juga akur dengan kehebatan pasukan senior Harimau negara apabila tewas 2-1 dalam aksi Pestabola Merdeka 1995.

WIRA skuad bola sepak negara, Safiq Rahim harus berbangga, semalam selepas gol tunggal olehnya pada awal babak kedua membantu barisan bawah 23 negara bimbingan K Rajagobal membuat kejutan menewaskan skuad Olimpik Korea Selatan 1-0 di siri persahabatan antarabangsa di Stadium Nasional, Bukit Jalil.
Gol itu tidak dapat saya lupakan sampai bila-bila, ia adalah kali pertama saya berpeluang bertemu Korea Selatan, kata pemain pemain kelahiran Kuala Selangor itu.
Kemenangan ini saya hadiahkan kepada semua penyokong, saya tidak dapat melakukannya tanpa kerjasama rakan sepasukan. Kami menjangkakan mereka akan meningkatkan asakan pada separuh masa kedua dan kami sepasukan bersedia menghadapi serangan mereka, tambah pemain kelahiran Kuala Selangor itu.
Jaringan Safiq Rahim pada minit ke-50 menceriakan 3,000 penyokong selepas asakan demi asakan skuad Malaysia akhirnya membutirkan hasil selepas penyerang itu berjaya menewaskan pertahanan Korea sebelum meledakkan rembatan kencang melepasi jangkauan penjaga gol, Lee Bum Soo yang tertewas di penjuru kanan.

Kita perlu menerima realiti, ia mungkin pasukan kelab atau universiti tetapi ia tetap Korea Selatan. Keyakinan pemain akan meningkat selepas ini dan pada usia 26 atau 27 mereka seharusnya berada pada tahap membolehkan mereka dihormati pasukan Asia lain, katanya.
Pengendali Olimpik Korea Selatan, Hong Myung Bo yang mempertahankan pemainnya kurang pengalaman di peringkat antarabangsa berkata: Pasukan kami di Sukan Asia akan berbeza daripada pasukan ini.
